The First Great Lesson

Where did the stars come from? And the Sun? How was our Earth created? And what about the rest of the Universe?

The First Great Lesson is the story of how the Universe and Earth came to be. It is a traditional Montessori lesson that combines science and imagination to explore the mysteries of creation and the forces that shape our world.

To start the story, you’ll travel back to a time before planet Earth, before the stars, and even before time itself. As it unfolds, we’ll use experiments and visuals to show how the Universe unfolded in an orderly way, guided by scientific principles that still affect everything around us. Then, you can try the experiments yourself to help deepen your understanding.

What you’ll learn:

  • How the Universe began
  • The order and structure of the Universe
  • How foundational science concepts like matter, forces, and astronomy connect to everyday life
  • The relationship between science, wonder, and imagination
