Senses and Information Processing

In this lesson, you’ll explore how your five main senses help your brain understand the world, even if they don’t always get it right! We’ll start by talking about how some ghost encounters can be explained by your senses tricking your brain. Then, you’ll try to make your own ghost appear with an afterimage.

You’ll learn how your eyes and your brain can make you see something that isn’t really there, and see examples of how artists and scientists use clever visual tricks to create optical illusions. By the end, you’ll be ready to question what you see, hear, and feel, and take a second look before deciding what’s true.

What you’ll learn:

  • How the brain processes sensory information
  • Ways your senses can sometimes mix signals or make mistakes
